This bit helps when used on the long reins and work in hand as the bit does not slide in the horse's mouth. I found that, as per advice, it gives a lot more support on the outside hand. I also tried the bit for ridden work and I found my horse more accepting of my often uneven hands but without any harsh action, just offering him a little more support. It can give a more consistent feel on an evasive contact.
