I was looking for a loose ring snaffle for my cob in sweet iron as my cob was leaning on my existing loose ring bit and knew I just had not got it quite right yet! He is only just rising 6 and still quite green but as he sometimes has more woah than go I wanted a nice bit with sensitive breaks! The MB02 is perfect as the sides are independant he does not lean on my hands and seems to be happier to hold himself plus I dont have any issues of him backing off from the bit if anything he likes a munch on it and looks for it. the sweet iron is not obvious and has little copper strips at the side and if your horse has a fleshy tongue and smallish mouth the shaped bit with the port is perfect no action hitting the roof of the mouth at all - What can I say both Mikey and I are really pleased!! ![]()
As soon as I first bitted and backed my youngster, he got his tongue over the bit, no matter how tight I made the cheekpieces, and was clearly not comfortable in a normal French link snaffle. I tried a couple of other bits with no visible improvement. I had bought a Myler Loose Ring Comfort Snaffle previously for his mother so tried him in that and, whilst he took a while to become completely comfortable in it, he never put his tongue over the bit and has now settled to a lovely soft contact. I think it is the combination of the arched arms and the multiple jointed effect which has produced this result and I would recommend the bit to anyone with a "mouthy" horse. ![]()
