Waterford Curbgag

The Waterford bit has many smooth flexible bumps or bubbles, which spreads the pressure over many points making it a light mouthpiece. The greater flexibility discourages a horse from leaning on it.  The Waterford bit is a good choice for a horses that leans, it also promotes mouthing and salivation.

The Waterford is usually worn ¼" - ½" longer than your traditional mouthpiece in order to curl around the lips and maximise the effect.

The Curb Gag is a new addition to Bombers, this cheek piece uses the concept of a Rope gag and instead of using that pressure to apply poll it is used to apply curb pressure, from the second/bottom rein, although poll is not removed as there is a similar action to the Portuguese/Ring or Drop/Hanging cheek on the bit/top rein. A ring can be added to the bottom to create more poll pressure.

All our bits are made from blue sweet iron, because it:

• oxidises easily
• encourages salivation
• helps bit acceptance
• is warm and sweet

Please note the blue will fade with use.

Please Note, A Curb Gag is designed to be used with two reins, incase of failure to the nylon part. This is also a ruling with Britsh Eventing.
