BBHTFC Bombers Full Cheek Happy Tongue

Description

Key Features

The Full Cheek cheekpiece will prevent pinching on the sides of the mouth, and the extended pins above and below the bit, firstly prevent the bit being pulled through the mouth and secondly aid guiding the horse’s head which is great for schooling purposes. As with the Eggbutt, the release is slower than the loose ring and also introduces light poll pressure.

The Happy Tongue is a solid mouthpiece uniquely ported to give maximum tongue relief. The standard Happy Tongue is curved to be softer on the bars and slow in applying tongue pressure.

Cheekpiece

The cheekpiece is available in 2 sizes, standard and a slightly smaller model for a pony.

Mouthpiece

This is by far our most successful design – we recommend for all young horses and those that show tongue sensitive signs. The 4 available ports have been scaled according to each width. This ensures accurate fitting over the bars and eliminates the rocking movement which occurs when the port is too wide. The Happy Tongue is also available as a straight mouthpiece which is slightly stronger.

All our bits are made from blue sweet iron, because it:

  • oxidises easily
  • encourages salivation
  • helps bit acceptance
  • is warm and sweet

Please note the blue will fade with use.

My young horse has decided to hang his tongue out on the left side... He was o my broken last sept ... And is going really well wev got big hope for this lovely boy.... Just wanted to say how impressed I was today when I rang the bit bank.. So very helpful and great advice.... Iv been very stressed about this issue.... I won a baby dressage class at the weekend and the judge pulled me aside to comment on how fab he was and had good vibes on his future , just his tongue issue will keep us from affiliating.... So watch this space for the up date on progress with our new bit to try ... Full cheek happy tongue

My pony Indy loves his Bomber Happy Tongue bit! For 7 months my usually well behaved Connemara gelding had started head tossing, chomping, trying to escape the bit, playing up in traffic, spooking, and in the end no joy to ride. The dentist, vet, and saddler found nothing amiss. Yet I felt there must be a reason for his behaviour and after a near miss with two motorcycles I asked my husband to watch me ride. He immediately saw that Indy's tongue was hanging out all the time and also commented on his 'huge tongue'! It turns out that Connemaras have large tongues and a low palate, leaving less room for a jointed bit such as a snaffle which I had always used. I contacted the Advice line at BitBank and after a very helpful conversation I ordered a trial of the Happy Tongue bit. As soon as I tried it he was a different pony, it seemed like a miracle to me! We are now back on track and enjoying ourselves. All the behavioural issues have disappeared. I would highly recommend both the Advice line and the happy Tongue bit.

I have a 5 year old Welsh D with a fleshy tongue. I called The Horse bit bank for advice as he was crossing his jaw, sticking his Tongue out & dropping behind the bit to avoid contact all whilst in a mild loose ring jointed snaffle with a flash noseband. The Horse Bit Bank suggested a loose ring happy tongue bomber bit which we were able to have on a 30 day trial. It is not dressage legal but it is a step on the way for us and I now have a happy horse with a steady searching contact & the tongue only comes out occasionally in times of stress. We are ready to look at dressage legal bits now & I will be calling The Horse bit bank for their advice.
